ABOUT

Hi, my name is Helen Stringfellow. I am a British artist, designer, lecturer and entrepreneur with an MA in Fine Art (Tapestry) from University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art, and an MFA in Sculpture from Edinburgh College of Art.

Since 1999 I have been making installation art collaboratively under the name tectonic industries, exhibiting nationally and internationally with recent(ish) solo shows at Burlington City Arts and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. At the end of 2023, I started making artwork individually, revisiting my interest in textile and fiber based work. I am currently exploring the ambiguous space between fact, fiction, and expectation around place, experience and memory.

I have three kids, three cats and two crazy pugs, and I am always up for a nap. When I’m not making art or driving the kids somewhere, I run my online calendar and planner business Plan The Things, and I’m a part-time lecturer at the University of Southern Maine teaching Sculpture, 3D Foundations, and Art + Entrepreneurship.
